WWE Basic Series 17

When is Mattel finally going to make a basic Rey Mysterio figure?… What do you mean they’ve released more than 400 different versions of the pint-sized former champ in the last 24 months? Okay, so I may have be over exhaggerating a bit, but it seems like almost every wave of WWE figures has at least one Rey Mysterio included. For basic wave 17, we also get Dolph Ziggler, Miz, Zac Ryder, Alex Riley and Mark Henry along with Rey. These will hit stores later this month.

It’s about time Ray Traylor (aka The Big Boss Man) got his own action figure. Although he never won the WWE championship, the guy had some classic programs. He was part of the Twin Towers tag team with Akeem that helped break up the Mega Powers (Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage). He stole the coffin and body of Big Show’s father. He had several reigns as the hardcore champion. Mr. Traylor died in 2004, but his ring persona lives on. John Cena, Undertaker, King Booker, Albert Del Rio and the Rock join him in the lineup. These should be hitting your local retailer any day now.

New Wrestlemania Heritage Toys

Love him or hate him, The Ultimate Warrior holds a special place in the history of the WWE.  When Hulk Hogan metaphorically passed the reigns to him at Wrestlemania VI, it seemed he was destined to carry the company into a new era.  Due to several poor decisions by the Warrior after his title win (threatened no-shows, a drug test failure, personal problems with other Superstars, etc.) his reputation spiraled down into one of the lowliest slots in the wrestling industry as a hated co-worker and terrible employee.  Mattel and the WWE continue to pay tribute to his golden years by having him anchor a new wave of Wrestlemania Heritage figures.  Look for him along with John Cena, Eddie Guerrero, Triple H, The Undertaker and Jack Swagger in stores now.
