As part of MattyCollector.com’s subscription line of Watchmen toys, Edwin Morgan Blake will soon get his very own articulated action figure. You may know Edwin by another name though. The Comedian features a comic inspired design, multiple points of articulation, a shotgun and a removable flamethrower backpack. He is scheduled to ship on September 15.
It looks like the Masters of the Universe Classics and DC Universe lines will continue through 2013. Things were looking “iffy” whether Matty would receive the minimum number of orders for each line of figures, but it was announced today by Toy Guru that both lines will move forward into next year.
MattyCollector has released new pics of next year’s Masters of the Universe Classics Club Eternia lineup. King He-Man will be the subscription-only figure. He will include a staff, battle damaged electronic Power Sword and a mini-comic that explains the secret rrigin of Skeletor. Netossa releases in January with her net/cape and her shield. In February Jitsu will come with three swords, two of which will snap into his back armor. From the Filmation series, Fang Man will release in March. Ram Man should be the first of the quarterly over-sized/variant figures. He will have a second helmet-less head and an ax. The second quarter oversized/variant slot will be taken by the Fighting Foe Men 3-Pack. They will also include swapable chest logos to turn them into members of the Horde. Finally, Strobo will serve as the “traveling convention figure.” He will come with his orb, orb holder, ray gun and a maskless Zodak head.
Currently the plan is to offer the basic figures for $25 each ($27 on the day of release), but if Matty doesn’t sell enough memberships by August 6, some of the figures won’t be produced and the price will probably go up.
MattyCollector showed off several members of 2013′s lineup of Infinite Earth subscription figures. Saint Walker, the Blue Lantern will release in January and will come with his lantern. Phantom Stranger will be the February figure followed by Elongated man in March. We can expect an Orange Lantern Larfleeze in April and a Wally West Flash in May. M. Mallah and the Brain will be the special Club release for the year. All of these releases depend on whether Matty can sell the minimum required subscriptions by August 6. According to their Facebook page, “If we don’t hit the min number of sub holders we will likely do fewer figures at higher prices. But here’s hoping we don’t have to cross that bridge.”
