G.I. Joe: Retaliation Moved to March

Looks like the Joe’s will be going A.W.O.L. for a few months while Paramount gives the film a once over with 3D. No matter how you slice it, this is terrible news. According to Deadline,
“Paramount is moving the movie nine months to March 29, 2013, to add 3D. “We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally,” one of the studio execs just told me. “Jim Cameron did all of Titanic‘s 3D in post – and look how well that movie turned out.”
Total conjecture here, but I have serious doubts 3D is the true reason for this last minute move. I have no information to back this up, but I would imagine that Paramount execs weren’t happy with the finished product, they want to cram more Channing Tatum into the film, they don’t want their PG-13 movie starring Channing Tatum competing with another movie that opens the same weekend starring Channing Tatum as an adult entertainer, they worry that Battleship’s colossal failure may carryover to this Hasbro license, or all of the above. Who knows? No matter what the reason, it’s hard to spin this as good news in any possible way.
