Thank you John McTiernan. You gave us two of the greatest action films from the 80′s. Die Hard and Predator set a standard that few films since then have matched. Thank you also to NECA for creating more action figures of Dutch and the Predator. These 7-inch scale toys will arrive just in time to celebrate 25 years of sci-fi geeks reciting such classic Predator lines as “I ain’t got time to bleed.” or “You’re one… *ugly* motherf*cker!” and of course “Get to da choppah!” Jungle Disguise Dutch and Jungle Encounter Dutch both feature over 20 points of articulation and movie-specific weapons. Water Emergence Predator features over 25 points of articulation including a ball-jointed hip and double-knee articulation, plus extendable wrist blades and a removable backpack. Look for these to release in June.
Aliens vs. Predator may have been a huge letdown to fans from both franchises, but Hot Toys hopes to mitigate some of the damage with a new 1/6 scale action figure of Scar. This blooded predator arrived on Earth with his brothers Celtic and Chopper to complete a rite of passage involving xenomorphs in an ancient pyramid in Antarctica. The figure will feature more than 22 points of articulation, netting on the body and arms, an interchangeable expanded mouth, 6 interchangeable hands, an articulated shoulder cannon, an extendable spear, one metal dagger with sheath, a shuriken, another shuriken with blades, a detachable face mask with LED light-up function, forearm armor with 6 interchangeable wrist blades, body armor, figure stand and more. Scar will hit the streets in May or you can pre-order him here.
Hot Toys will soon add 1/4 scale collectibles to its existing 1/6 scale Predator line of figures. This includes the films Predator, Predator 2, Predators, Alien vs Predator and Aliens vs Predator – Requiem. In addition to the alien hunters, collectors can also look forward to a new Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dutch. The new scale will allow for better detail and improved quality, including the use of die-cast on the masks and some body armors. Look for these sometime in 2012.
Square Enix has a treat for Uncharted fans, Mattel’s final retail wave of DC Universe Classics and Hot Toys Samurais the Predator. This is Articulation Times.
