It’s a bittersweet day for Venture Bros. fans who were looking forward to the new line of action figures from Bif Bang Pow! The company has released a statement about the future of the 3.75-inch versions of Brock, Hank, Dean, and Dr. Venture:
The wait is over. The very first The Venture Bros. 3 3/4 inch action figure is going into production this Spring. We anticipate Brock Samson shipping right after San Diego Comic-Con 2012 – in late July 2012 or early August 2012… The fate of the remaining characters depends on strong pre-orders.
In theory, we could see all of the characters made into action figures, but if no one pre-orders them, they will each die a slow painful death on their way to a Chinese toy factory, never to be seen again. Do you really want that on your conscience? You can pre-order Brock here.
Saturday afternoons for me growing up revolved around my Zenith console TV, watching a long block of sci-fi reruns and syndicated cheese on my favorite independent station. We’re talking the original Star Trek, new episodes of T and T starring Mr. T, The Incredible Hulk, The Greatest American Hero and so on. That’s probably why I am drawn to Bif Bang Pow!’s upcoming 8-inch figure lines based on Battlestar Galactica, The Six Million Dollar Man, and classic Doctor Who. These figures are like comfort food for toy dweebs like me, reminding us of a time when Steve Austin’s slow motion running seemed hi-tech, Cylons were kind of scary and the only place to see the fourth doctor in action was on late-night PBS. Apollo, the Cylon, Starbuck, the Android Sister, Steve Austin, Bigfoot, Oscar Goldman and the Fembot will release in July. The Doctor Who Tardis playset with K-9 will arrive in October. You can see more pics of the Bif Bang Pow! booth from this year’s Toy Fair here.
Sideshow Collectibles immortalizes the Crimson Guard, the Eleventh Doctor gets the ⅙ scale figure treatment, and where you’ll be able to get this exclusive Arkham City Joker. Here are links to some of the toys mentioned in this video:
